Just in from the studio and the library, a gray day here so good day to curl up in bed and read. Couple of the books look good…Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher and Under Their Thumb, How a Nice boy from Brooklyn Got Mixed up with the Rolling Stones. Also got a coupala movies. See you tomorrow, I think some of the beads will be interesting when I grabim’ out of the kiln tomorrow. See ya then, Peace, BK~
Big Circus Bead!
Puppy Love!
Something new to look at…hope you are all well. My happyness quotient isn’t too high today. A nice little walk with the dogs will probly help alot. Strawberry shortcake for dinner. That’s something to look forward to. Hey and at least my Monday workday is over. At stiches the other nite Ann’s young daughter mentioned she checked a website everyday that posted a new puppy picture for each day. I thought that was so cute, though she seemed to blush when she said it. So teenagerly and cute. I so appreciated her being there and hanging out with us old hens ( even tho we really have alot of cool stuff to say). Check in tomorrow, more new beads coming out of the kiln. Peace and Love, BK~
Circus Beads, $8 each!
These beads will make some really cute earrings, don’t you think? I believe I’ll make some to wear to work in the morning! Upbeat beads for sure. Peace, BK~
Make It Happen!
I don’t believe I’ve ever posted a pic of me at the torch before. As you can see it’s a pretty messy work bench. I did clean up later that day. I’ll be back at it later today. Also was happy with some of the beads I made yesterday and I’ll be posting those later after I get them off the mandrels and photograph them. With the dark weather today won’t be tempted to skip the studio and work outside.
I’ll say again if you haven’t checked the Etsy site to look at lampworked beads you should if your surfing around today. New post at 3p today, check back later and have a wonderful Sunday, enjoy, BK~
No, We did’nt get a new puppy..
Meet “Mocha” Mshaw’s new pup! She is a lovely little thing, just 8 wks old.
Margret works with “older” people and will be taking this little girl around to all her clients. I’m very sure they’ll enjoy her, how
can you not??
Flaming Hearts 2!
Greetings Beadheads and Happy Friday!
I’m on my way to Stiches where we’ll have pot luck and lots of girl talk. Haven’t seen alot of the stiches crew so it should be fun.
Still workin’ on the new beads and having some luck and some not very good luck with ‘em. I should post some of the really bad beads I’ve made so you and I can appreciate the better ones. Who would have thought periwenkel and red look so good together? I realized today as I struggled with some really thin stringer (think the size of a hair) how hard that is to apply nicely. That stuff melts in a fraction of a second and you better be right on when applying it!
I was rejected from Madison yesterday. My score was a 2 out of 7. Out of 1000 artist they only needed 400 to fill their booth spaces. It sure would be nice if they told you that upfront….I can’t believe they invite that many artist back but I guess they do.
So this was just a quick drop in before I jump in the shower and make my potatoe salad. Look for new photos tomorrow. Peace and all that jazz, BK~
Light and Airy as a Spring Breeze!
Hello again all, Dogs are compin’ at the bit to go for their walk, so this will be quick. Thank you to all my wonderful women friends who contine to call, write, and email. “I think of you all the time and hope you are managing to get through your day alright” well, I am doing alright but sad but one has no other choice but to keep your chin up and try to have a good day with the blessed day of life we are given. It’s warming up alot here, isn’t spring the best season?
Check back again tomorrow, more new beads will be out of the kiln then, Lotsa Love, BK!~
Flaming Hearts!
Please bare with me while I try to perfect the flaming hearts. Not my design but “carlee beads” which you can google if you want to see her beautiful rendition of this design. I must say I’ve been slightly infatuated with her, her website and her beads. This young lady is a slightly “rad” woman who is German. Her website has alot of stuff in English. Her rant intitled “what Simon said and I tend to agree with..” is very interesting stuff. Carlee has lots of full blown tatoos and such! Very interesting, maybe because I’m very much German heritage myself that I’ve been so taken with her. You can also catch her on BeadArtist.org, another one you can Google. Look for more new designs coming up for the summer season. Peace! BK~
New Decorative Beads
Hot out of the kiln, new decorative beads. I’ve been doing some new to me surface design by draging dots and stringers. Also added some goldstone stringer for that really fancy look. I intend to continue to experiment with this design. These beads take along time to make. Picking just the right transparent that will show up well is a challenge also. You should check out the Etsy site for lampwork beads. The pictures are larger and better than the ebay site I think. Also the artist are different. Spent hours looking through about 120 pages of beads the other day on Etsy. Classify that one under education. Now I’m trying to decide how to make some earrings to match these beads, which will end up as pendants. Hey, I forgot to mention David and I got into the Petoskey show on July 18th. I tried for 4 yrs to get into Petoskey in the past, finnally I gave up. David happened to mention the show but thought the deadline to apply had past. I gave a quick email to Petoskey and found out we acually had another 3days to get our apps in, which we did. Much to my surprize recieved a Congratulations letter instead of the usual “unfortunatly you did’nt get in but please try again next year as we’d be happy to accept your app fee again”.
Hope you are all doing well. I’ve been reading alot and watching tons of movies. Have you seen Slumdog yet? It was such a good movie. Thanks for checking in, have a great day, BK~
Etched Spring Beads
Hope all is well in your world this morning. New etched beads for spring. Included are a few pandora large hole beads as well. I intend to do alot more etched beads this spring. I do love the organic feel that the simple etching solution gives. Customers tend to agree. David is away at a workshop in Jackson. Kristen Kieffer does the most beautiful pots, please give her a google and check out her page on the web. It’s back to the studio later today and then raking the yard to enjoy our nice warm weather today. Thanks for checking in. Peace, BK~ http/www.kiefferceramics.com
